2012 El Dorado County Fair Demonstrations

Textiles

Sheep to Shawl Demo at the Fair...more than your head will be spinning!!
On Saturday, June 16, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, Hangtown Fibers Guild will provide fairgoers with the opportunity to see the making of cloth from nearly start to finish. Two teams will card, spin, ply, and weave a shawl...answer your questions...and be thrilled to have your cheer and encourage them onward...all in the spirit of fun and learning. Don't miss this wonderful demonstration on the east side of the Corker Building under the shade cloth.

And You Thought Spinning Was Just About Bicycles...
Come to the east side of the Corker Building on Saturday, June 16, between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm and see what spinning is really about. It has been a means of producing cloth and clothing for thousands of years. Be sure to stop by and see the friendly competition and interactive demonstration from carding, to spinning, to plying, to weaving two shawls.

Hangtown Fibers Guild members make up both teams and will show you how it is and was done, answer your questions, and respond to your cheering and encouragement...you pick the shawl you like best, then root for that team
