Mark your calendars now.  Imagination Theater is presenting the family favorite The Wizard of Oz.  Based on the 1939 MGM Academy-Award-Winning movie, the classic stage musical runs November 14 through December 21, 2008.  A cast of more than fifty El Dorado County children, teenagers, and adult performers will lead audiences on a magical journey “Over the Rainbow.”  Lanny Langston is the show’s producer and Peter Wolfe provides direction and scenic design.  Dale Wallerstein is the Music Director and Vanessa Lathrop is the Choreographer. The music is performed by Jeri Meyers and Craig Zangari.  Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening performances are at 7:00 p.m.  Saturday and Sunday Matinees are at 2:30 p.m.  Ticket prices range from $9.00 to $16.00. Group rates are available.

Man of La Mancha Auditions – Sunday, October 12

Auditions for Man of La Mancha are scheduled for Sunday, October 12, 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. Callbacks will be Monday, October 13 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Performances are scheduled for March 27 through April 19, 2009.

Auditions for:  16 men and 4 women, plus chorus, adult roles (teenagers welcome)

Dracula Project Fundraising Evening – October 30

Porter Media Group and IT! are collaborating on a production of Bram Stoker’s novel, Dracula, encompassing breathtaking special effects in a combination of film and stage.  The production is slated for October 2009.  Learn more about this multi-media, film and stage project on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Imagination Theater from 6:00-9:00 p.m. There is no cost to attend. Food and wine will be served.  Attendees can preview costume drawings and storyboards.  A short, live auction will be held for a small, but vital role in the movie. Funds raised from this evening will help with the production cost of this project.

Oregon Shakespeare Festival Comes to IT! November 18

Imagination Theater will host Sarah Rutan and Christopher Rivera, a pair of actors from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival on Tuesday evening November 18 at 7:00 p.m.  The actors will perform excerpts from Shakespeare and other classical and contemporary literature.  The School Visit Program is a vital part of the Festival’s ongoing commitment to bring live theatre to students and adults. At the conclusion of the Festival’s 2007 season, six teams of actors visited 133 schools and organizations, reaching over 65,000 students in five states.  For many students, this program has afforded them their first encounter with live theatre.  One student wrote, “I thought the actors did a fabulous job. They made me want to learn more about Shakespeare and his different plays.”  All seats are $10 and go on sale October 1st.
